Yellowstone Annual Conference
Howard G. Guetherman, UMMen President 1309 3rd Avenue N W Great Falls, Montana 59404-2151 406-866-0658Web Site www.yacumm.org
Greetings; Brothers in Christ:
My name is Howard G. Guetherman and I am your Yellowstone Conference UMMen President. I have already met with a number you men at the last two Annual Conferences in Billings as well as at the local church level throughout this conference and I look forward to meeting many more.
As you can see, the Yellowstone Conference United Methodist Men now has a Web Site up and running. (www.yacumm.org). I want to publicly thank brother James Fuller for his dedication and willingness to act as our (Internet Communications Consultant) Web Master. I foresee many opportunities for the men of the Yellowstone Conference to interact with each other through this medium. As we make contact with the various local churches that have either active Men’s Fellowships or a UMMen Chartered Ministry to Men group and have access to the internet, we will be asking for information about what types of ministries these groups are doing and ask them to share what has worked and not worked at their local level.
I have, and am anxious to share with you men, five different DVD studies that my local (West Side UMC) men’s group has been using over the past two plus years. The participant’s workbooks are all printed up on 3 ½ inch disks, and I can either visit with you to download on your local computers or send them as attachments through email. The only cost for each local group would be the printing of the workbooks for each participant and the purchase of the DVD’s. There are also available for a couple of these studies, leader’s books that may or may not be used by the leader. Each of these studies has multiple sessions, so depending on how many meetings per month you have could stretch into multiple years’ worth of studies.
Your Conference UMMen Secretary, Rev. GW Bill Warren has stated that there are two types of men’s ministries. There is the Men’s Ministry Group, which meets (sometimes over a meal) and has a short discussion on what it means to be a ‘Christian’ and there is the Ministry to Men’s Groups that meet (sometimes over a meal) that has some type of a dedicated study on becoming a Disciple of God. Each group does have a time for fellowship and sometimes, a hands-on ministry project, but the Ministry to Men’s Group also has a purpose to meet. Doing a dedicated study fulfills that purpose. My desire is that each local church has a Ministry to Men’s Group, and I am willing to do whatever it takes on my part to help the local churches obtain that. Please feel free to contact me. My information is at the top of this letterhead or you can also find it on the “Contact Us” page of the web site.
Your Brother in Christ:
